fancy handywork

Image
Betsy is an awesome calligrapher, her calendar is super sweet. I want to have a wall of calendars I am thinking....I am always writing lists and feel like I am two, sometimes three steps behind - maybe a whole wall of dates would make me more effective? I also absolutely hate my handwriting. My mother has a knack for gorgeous swirls, others have aggressive and striking printing and I am a mess. My writing is never the same, yet always nondescript....perhaps something to work on - or I could stick to simple printing and digital typography. I think the second option will be the winner for today.

I forgot!

Image
Earth hour was this past Saturday and I forgot to turn all the lights out for an hour. Luckily, I am in Scandiland and that means that a cozy Saturday night was spent watching some old flicks by candle light, Pinot in hand. I should have turned of Chaplin for that hour and read instead...but at least I had the lights off. This is a milk package that was designed for Arla. Smart design, by Milk design - out of Sweden, of course.

going home to visit my flowers

I am tired, cold and looking forward to a cup of the delicious detox tea that is awaiting my homecoming. yummmmm. I could live on this stuff.

blue sky.

Being lazy and hitting my now working snooze button this morning to miss my morning run, I was still happy to see the sun has stayed with my for a whole day! An entire day, what a feeling. If this was my dressing room, spring would really be here and maybe I would hit my snooze button less? Probably not, but the set up looks super sweet.

I woke up not because my alarm woke me up, but because it did not. My phone had decided to not work this morning, for some reason...so I was forced to wander around my flat confused as to why it stayed silent and why on earth every morning when I have work on, the sun seems to greet me with a 'hahaha lady' you have to be in the office all day attitude. I will take what I can get these days as far as the sun goes, but I am still feeling a little blue. So, to help with the low feeling I have today, I am posting these fancy dancey pictures. They bring me back to great memories of dancing evenings away. Flowing dresses, long wavy hair and good dance partners...very uplifting!

delicious

These glasses from Swedish designer Catarina Giarimi are so pretty and perfect for my favorite champagne.

adorable and sweet

I have surrounded myself this afternoon with some sweet smelling flowers. Lily of the Valley and Lilacs are sitting on my desk, and life smells sweet...so sweet. This little art director is exactly what I needed to see today. Here critiques lifted my spirits. The way she briefs her Dad is THE BEST! I can hear her little voice in the way the posts are written, you can read them here .

she sells sea shells....

Image
I was brought home from the US lovely sea shells that I haven't decided what to do with yet. Luckily in Scandinavia, white is the new white, so framing them in a white frame could look super cool. I saw this the other day. They made from white doilies and yellow pushpins, crafty! This would look hot in my flat, but I might get in trouble with the landlady for making tinie tiny holes in the wall...

it's not the fall that will kill you....

Image
It's when you hit the ground . Not always the case. When you hit the ground, like I do on many occasions, you clean up your scraped elbows and move on. If lucky you will have a room of people that come to your assistance after hearing you squeak and sigh at yet another clumsy fall that landed you, splat on the floor. If your not that lucky, you will always have the ground to remind you that you can always wipe your cuts and bruises and begin again.

back on two wheels!!!!

I am so happy to report my biking days are back again. I am back in the saddle and enjoying the Danish sun beyond belief. This was my old ride in Amsterdam. That bike was pretty awesome, generator light and all. If I go to visit anytime soon, I will have to see if it is still hanging out awaiting my return.

in the shadows

Image
The weather forecast says sun this Sunday, how appropriate. If it stays true I am hoping to make it to this amazing church. My trip will be much more pleasurable if I can find a new bike to take me there as well. Fingers and toes crossed that I will find one! This light is super cool as well. The shadows it makes are so interesting.

you can NOT be serious.

There is an old saying that when somethings are going very well in your life, others seem the fantastically eff up. Ok, that may not be the exact saying....but I spent this week getting so many of my little ducks in a row, that it seems the universe wants to remind me that when you least expect it, things that you least expected just happen. On occasion these are wonderful things, and others are just sad. Today was a sad day. I awoke to look out at a bright sunny sky, went for a run along the water in the morning before getting ready for work, and had a warm cozy shower...then when I went to jump on my lovely Danish bike I just had tuned up for spring, I notice - no bike! My fab ride that has glided me through many a day here, has been stolen. I have had many bikes stolen, this is not a new thing, but somehow this one being taken today made me the saddest. Sharon Montrose , the animal photographer, came home to discover these all over their chalkboard. They make me smile. I suppose spr...

this is what I am trying to do....

So true!

Being a gril who lives in her hunter boots and woke up to a big red umbrella as my bedroom companion this past Saturday morning, this poster is so true.

The dammer

After watching a late night film at the Tuschinski , I walked along the Amstel river on my way home. This was the view from our place. It was such a pretty view, although I love being a Scanadian, I do miss the land of windmills.

under water

Barbara Cole did this series a few years back and I remember falling in love with it. Not being a strong swimmer, and having my share of negative water related experiences, the way she portrays water just got to me. Water is not so scary, water is so beautiful.

I heart google

Image
After buying tickets to incorrect movies, missing show times and going to wrong theaters...I now see google has finally put Copenhagen on their search engine for films. Hurrah! A click of the mouse and I know what is playing and where to catch it. THANK YOU google. ...now if I could only get a magical engine to clean and organise my flat.

In spite of ourselves.

At a Mexican inspired dinner party I was at on Friday, I was played this song. It made me laugh so hard and brought a big smile to my face.

nice style

Image
Alvhhem is a site where you can find Swedish homes for sale with lovely styled interiors like these ones. It is a truly unique brokerage concept where they convey housing as a entire lifestyle using photographers and an art director to help sell your space. They also have a interior design shop... very interesting concept. I would love to see this catch on, because it is incredible to see what a little styling can do to a place.

taking a breath.

These lovely shots of Parisian flowers are so pretty and are helping me take deep breathes today. I am under the sun and in flat shoes, I am taking pleasure in the little things.

the great reccesion

I have been bouncing all around on how to describe the '09 economy and reading this term today made me want to roll it into the mix. Thanks Sabaa! A side effect of this 'great recession' time is the fabulously cheap prices for crustacean critters. Lobsters are one of my favorite things to indulge in and for some reason they have thematically worked their way into my evening today. Here is a book cover that I think is super cool and is on a site with other lovies.

Never the less...here we go!

This clip always cracks me up. Perhaps having a little P. Sellers on one of my flights could have made for fun times.
