2009

Image
It has gone by in the blink of an eye. It has been sweet, spicy, surprising and shocking all at once. I keep my fingers crossed that 2010 will move a tiny bit slower to allow me to enjoy all the wonderful things that seem to zoom past at warp speed sometimes. I only have one errand to sort out today, so if my last afternoon of 2009 were to look like something it would be these images. Vintage shopping, sweet tooth indulgence and pinky goodness. Thanks 2009 and all the faces and places I have seen in it and here is 2010....may you be as beautifully balanced as you sound.

boys

They are pretty rad, at times. If I were one I would want all these things ( with the exception of the jacket...not digging that ) Being a very girly girl, sometimes a little masculinity can be a good thing.

Hopenhagen

Thanks to all these wonderful artists out there that are embracing this UN conference and breathing so much hope into the 'hagen. I don't think the Danes know what an honor it is to have their capital nicked named in this way...sometimes I just want to give the world a hug, today is one of those days. Max Dalton's illustrations are so cool. Thanks Max!

too cute for words

mtachy matchy

Image
Many years ago when asking a wee one what her mother did, she responded with "she matches me"- hilarious. It always drove me round the bend as a child when my mother matched red shorts and a pink t-shirt on my little aggravated body. Now, here I sit in purple tights, red sweater and orange trimmed ballet flats...who would have guessed. One of favorite matchy games is food+film. This is a passing idea on a foggy Wednesday afternoon in December. However to remember this idea, I am jotting it down to remind myself to follow up on this little project I have had rolling around in my mind for too long. food+drink+film = happy. This little red lipped hottie has the some thoughts, trés cool.

old technology

Image
New technology rocks, seriously rocks. However, I can't seem to stop myself indulging in my love of older things, it is so cliché...but this is just how it is. Holga, SLR camera's, typewriters, vintage clothes and accessories, crooner tunes – something with a story and a bit of soul always pulls me in. Finding old photos that existed pre-facebook will be a winter activity for me, while in Canada. I can close my eyes and conjour up the specific smell of the air on the coast on Newfoundland, looking out to Britian and my very unclear future, at that 25 year old time and finding that photo, along with others that stick out in my mind will be one of the best christmas presents this year. Ah....nostalgia, whether it be instant or proper is as guilty a pleasure of mine as nibling on chocolate whilst sipping champagne. Embracing the past is important when looking to the future...that's what I tell myself anyway.
