I must put my creative hat on and figure out how to see Art & Copy , in a way that doesn't make me long for the theater it played in a few days ago. Thinking about it, it is probably my favorite corner of the city. Across from the ROM, beside the Gardiner Museum and of course a short walk from one of my favorite rooftop lounges on earth.....oh why did you have to play there? I am so jealous. A few shots of those very buildings....thanks to various photographers that seem to like them as much as I do.
My friend Jon told me a while back, that cutting boards are the new stocked bookshelf. They speak to a person's passion about enjoying food and life. I thought the comment was quite sweet as I have an addiction to those beautiful, useful boards. They act as serving trays, plates, prep areas and are just beautiful to look at, to me that is. I came across this shot and it made me think that my dream kitchen isn't so much about the fancy appliances, the size or really the location of it. It's about well used beautiful objects that have been put to work on memorable meals shared with loved ones, and this lighting certainly doesn't hurt!
The petulant child within me came alive when I listened to this talk. It took me back to working on Czehoski. The most fun part of that process was crawling around the rafters to take photographs of tin ceiling details, old wallpaper motifs and peek at liquor bottles simply labeled 'very old', all these details would work their way into the design system. Of course dancing atop a flaming bar that was being 'aged' made the play in the process quite enjoyable. Playing in a medium I was not experienced in, was one of the most fun projects I have worked on to date.
