Setting sights on the west

Image
Soon I will be on the sunnier side of things and I'm looking forward to grabbing every moment not inside an over air conditioned convention center to take in the warm west air. I love changes of scenery ever so much and am very lucky to have that luxury often and it's greatly appreciated.

let's try this again...

Image
It's been so very long since I have posted and Mum wants to see some content, so what Mum wants she gets :) So, here goes...let's start simple. Today I am thinking of burgers, I only eat them a few times a year, but I do love them. One of the things I link these juicy treats to are road movies, road trips, road adventures...whatever you want to call them. Toping my list is Weber's in Ontario, a pit stop on the way to cottage country. From my home country to my adopted Scandinavia, Phil's halloumi burger is the only burger I have ever ordered two to be consumed in one sitting and don't regret that decision in the least.  In the US of A both Shake Shack and In-n-Out are tied for my affection. Soon I hope to be able to enjoy is an In-n-Out whilst on the west coast, we shall see...fingers crossed!

let's paint the walls!

It's been quite some time since I posted things on this blog. The world, as well as mine has changed so much since I started to post things to keep an archive that I was unable to loose. This random thunderstorm-y thursday will mark my attempt to get back into posting things that I find interesting and want to be able to access easily.  Mum will have things to read and I will have a place to pop back into from time to time to call upon those sparks of inspiration that make this lovely life, lovely.  Pretty Ombre walls captured by this talented lady

Carl - I love you so

Carl Kleiner has been rocking it as usual with some beautiful abstract paper photographs. They never disappoint and always inspire me. It's not what you have, it's what you make of it.

Cutting Boards

Image
My friend Jon told me a while back, that cutting boards are the new stocked bookshelf. They speak to a person's passion about enjoying food and life. I thought the comment was quite sweet as I have an addiction to those beautiful, useful boards. They act as serving trays, plates, prep areas and are just beautiful to look at, to me that is. I came across this shot and it made me think that my dream kitchen isn't so much about the fancy appliances, the size or really the location of it. It's about well used beautiful objects that have been put to work on memorable meals shared with loved ones, and this lighting certainly doesn't hurt!

Aspen

Image
Soon I will be off to Copenhagen to celebrate love and lifelong friendship, but first a few peeks from an amazing weekend in Aspen. Food and Wine is my official favorite magazine and Stephanie Izard can do no wrong in my book.

Back from Paris!

Image
Before I start to tuck in and post some of the amazing food & wine that was had in Paris, I thought I would share my morning garden and dessert. Yogurt, Strawberries, Pistachios, Flax Seed, Fraise Jam and Fresh Mint. Duralex makes my favorite glasses in a small size, so I will pick some up for the office and start to bring my American portions more in line with the European ones I have been enjoying.

Chicago food frenzy

Today I have the pleasure of working on a shoot with Food & Wine magazine. A little peek into the beautiful space that is my home on this very early spring day

Tam-Pa!

Who knew I would fall for Tampa in such a way? I've only been in town a week and have been impressed by so many things I've seen. From little tree lined streets to exceptionally curated restaurants, Tampa has some little known treasures. Celebrating Valentines day in the countryside today at Streamsong — can not say enough about this place. Wishing all my lovelies, near, dear, far and wide — a beautiful day.

Grantchester

Image
Caught this on PBS this eve after a long week of mending from a mysterious allergic reaction. Happily on the road to wellness, I watched a record amount of PBS this weekend. From Chef Magnus in northern Sweden, to vintage hat spotting on Downton to a new player at the table — Grantchester . This show is just the right amount of intrigue and enjoyment, what better way to spend an hour before an early turn in on a Sunday night?

Flowery Friday

Could not have said it better myself.

On a foggy Wednesday

Image
I started this blog to keep track of interesting finds and experiences, however in the last year I have posted nothing. This is not because I have not been in awe of so many interesting things I have come across, I just have not posted them. Instead of backtracking and trying to catch up, I am starting today with a gorgeous restaurant I recently visited in Malaga. El Pimpi was inspiring and so gorgeous to wander through. Highly recommend if on a trip to the south of Spain. I hope to visit again - soon!

delicious breakfast

A favorite meal to play with. Sweet or savory, I love it all. These little fella's should be in my future I think. Top them with some Chobani and I will be all set!

A great wine for a girl like me! Nice work Up Inc in Toronto no less.

Oh Canada...

Image
I like that my homeland has a puppy room to help stressed out students calm the hell down. Pressure can make a diamond, however stress can break it. Pressure is great, especially for some of us that indulge in procrastination - it forces us to focus and meet goals, but stress I feel creatives scattered thoughts, confusion and an overall decline in productivity. Pets are nice, even if just to visit.

garden of earthly delights!

Image
It is too hot to spend time in the garden, but once it cools I am taking up post here to enjoy the season. To have a little haven to calm to soul that brings me simple delight — is simply delightful!

tiny treats

Back in the autumn chef Lele came knocking in the west village and filmed this cute little spot. I have been focusing on pasta this last year it seems as my favorite village spot I Sodi is what I look forward to indulging in when I fly back into NYC. Cacio e pepe is my obsession and it is no coincidence that I Sodi uses Garofolo spaghetti in her amazing rendition of the dish. A long summer bike ride finished with a bowl of pasta and a glass of Gavi - perfection.
