The snow is falling and I am on my way to celebrate this day with some beautiful ballet, champagne and lots of hugs and chocolate cake! Currently, cozy in flat with the smell of this surrounding me.
Taking a dip in the sea on a cold winter day, is pretty awesome...I highly recommend. Lately I am missing many people in my day to day, however appreciative for the ones I do have surrounding me and the ones I hope to see soon. Some I will never get to see again and to them I send love and thanks for the moments that I will treasure. Copenhagen in the wintertime can be so beautiful!
Here are some quick thoughts that I keep replaying in my mind. People that give strong, loving hugs are tops in my books. Opening your home, your schedule and your mind are also pretty damn fantastic. Nothing beats a good yoga class on a cold and rainy autumn evening. Music, film and art bring people together and none of them should be consumed entirely alone, for too long.
There is something about flats, twirling and the color red - that lifts my spirit. The classic lines of the ballerina style can make the greyest day seem bright. Thanks Chloe for some beautiful forms. Being sensitive to pretty much everything, the shining sunlight has brought a big smile to this face. Now, if I can get myself back on the bike again...this autumn day will really be lovely.
Broke out the wellies, the stripey shirts, silk scarves and sniffles. Recently, I read that rainy days can make us more productive. I spent an accidental 3 extra hours in bed sleeping..thanks to a non-existent alarm and lurking cold, so productive..so far, not really. In a bit of awe in how unexpected and beautiful rainy days can be though...when you least expect it, what you least expect.
Having filled up on delicious pizza recently at a newly opened restaurant in the 'hagen called Mother , this evening will be time for lighter fare. Fighting the fall weather for one more day with some gorgeous red strawberries. Sending my love and appreciation out to a very dear friend, that I will no longer enjoy peanut butter cookies and rose champagne with...but will toast when I partake in the years to come.
Worries, sadness or doubt can be fought well with a good evening run. They might try and greet you when you return home, but you'll be too tired to let them in...I was, anyway. Thank you, evening sun for kissing me goodnight.
If I were in the same country as you, I would make you these goodies to help you feel better. Sadly, I am not...so I will make them, perfect them and then the next time I see you we will enjoy some sugary goodness together. Perhaps 25 years after our first trip to the big apple we can return once again for some delicious meals. Having moved on from the much loved Popeye chicken and twix bars..we will have to suss out some new goodies, which I am sure will not prove difficult. Recipe and gorgeous photographs here
I am sad not be able to take advantage of the heat wave in the US and Canada right now. This image is the exact kind of get up I would like to don on a hot summer's day. Perfect for a girl who burns easily and prefers to lounge and stroll rather than run and jump in the water.
One of the most beautiful scents around. Mix that with a little champagne and I am a very happy girl. Small pleasures are important, enjoyable and not to be forgotten.
A truer statement has never been uttered about the ease of a life with the likes of myself. Sadly the man who I am quoting, is not having the easiest time and my heart hopes that this world will be blessed with many more days filled with his wry smile and witty banter. Wayner, stay strong, all your girls need you in our lives. After a little break from the blog world, I have decided to jump back into the habit of jotting things down, collecting inspiration and nannering on.
Happily I sussed out my ice cream island once again to enjoy a serious chocolate treat. Thanks Dad for reminding me only father's can help out their little ones finish ice cream cones without letting any of the good stuff melt. Fantastic creamy packaging. Mixing sweet treats with fine paper products... yum
I have never been a fan – ever, however after reading this little fact today, I am becoming a convert. If you miss breakfast, your metabolism slows and it becomes more difficult to lose weight and keep it off. In addition, a healthy breakfast allows you greater concentration and productivity throughout the morning, and reduces your cholesterol. Having sussed out a Scandi label of organic oatmeal and the fact that Strawberries are in season right now, seriously helps.
After fighting a sickness for much too long, I am hoping to walk in the hot European heat soon. With sunblock in hand and hair tied back...I say welcome proper summer sun. Beautiful French photo's.
While in London last week, I felt a wee bit like I had one foot on the Brit side and one on the tourist side. Perhaps a perfect way to go through life?
He is a 3 month old giraffe that Sharon Montrose photographed recently. Standing up there, wobbly legs and all...he is very beautiful. Good job Sharon and rock on Stanley!
Not being a religious person per see, I am interested in religion and houses of worship as a place of peace and reflection. I found little, other than annoyance in the church that was my 'parish' growing up – however I have had amazing experiences in churches. From France, to Italy to Copenhagen I seem to suss out pricey food shops and churches that move me. I have never been the fortune teller or blind faith kind of gal, but interesting things happen in this small world that connect us all. The ash cloud that hangs over Europe right now is just too good of an example not to mention. While watching the Graduate, I thought it was strange that I could hear the sounds of silence quietly playing in the background when I didn't think the score had it set to play. After muting the telly...I realized that the song was echoing down my street. Simon & Garfunkel songs played for a few hours and again the next morning. Coincidence, probably....but coincidences make life interest...
The weather is beautiful, and the air travel is not happening for anyone here in Europe right now. It might just be a state of mind, but there is stillness in the air today, that I can feel. These paintings are so beautiful, I would love to see them in person. You can almost smell the clean sheet scent. Fancy pants Alison Watt is the mastermind behind these beauties.
I am not sure about the answer, but I like the question. Having shared some of my thoughts on inspiration yesterday, I have let some people behind my creative curtain and hope they aren't too disappointed. I can only imagine what pulses behind my co-workers creative curtains, some sweet inspiration and some scary too, I bet.
