reverse reverse Sunday

On this snowy Sunday in February, I had breakfast for dinner and dessert at the start of the meal. Trying my hand at Mum's pancakes, adding a few twists to see what worked out best, the little experiment turned out some banana plus vanilla and chocolate pancakes. Chocolate was of course the winner, with the addition of rasberry compote, soft Danish butter, sea salt and Canadian maple syrup on the side to make those little fluffy pancakes really delicious.

Snowy Day chocolate pancakes...

1 and 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
4 teaspoons sugar
2 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons of Valrhona cocoa
2 large fork beaten eggs
2 tablespoons cooking oil (or butter of marg. melted)
1 and 1/4 cups milk

Combine flour sugar baking powder and salt in a bowl and stir. Make a well in the center.
Add eggs oil and milk. Stir just to moisten. Dust with icing sugar and pile a plate full of fresh berries, jams, butter and maple syrup on the side.

When tucking into this little experiment of a meal this evening, a very sweet film was on the telly, Chocolat.. how fitting. With the stunning Juliette Binoche and kick ass Judi Dench, it was the perfect indulgence for this little petulant one. A film filled with nice music, stunning cinematography, chocolate, eating, drinking and dancing with your whole body and of course...France. mmmmm
